Corberán: “Mestalla is very important, gives us energy and we can’t wait to be back there”
The Valencia CF coach previews the match against RC Celta de Vigo
Valencia CF coach, Carlos Corberán, spoke to the media in a press conference before the LALIGA EA SPORTS game on Sunday, at home to RC Celta de Vigo.
Injuries
“Enzo has been training on the sidelines due to a knock and his injury, but today he trained with the group and tomorrow he will do so again. Hugo has also been training separately in the past few days. In the last two games he has made a great effort. He still has discomfort, but he has also trained with the group today. Rafa Mir continues training partially -almost completely- with the group. He is in the final phase of his recovery and I will have to evaluate him. His progress has been positive.”
The transfer market
“I talk about both departures and arrivals when they occur, because it has to be that way. When a player belongs to Valencia CF, I work with him and I focus on defending the interests of Valencia CF, which are those of our players. Until a player comes to Valencia CF, he belongs to another club. I always came to work with the players who are there, and the club continue working to achieve the objective that we have. I have full confidence in how much work is being done. The market deadlines are what they are.
The important thing is the mentality that the players who come to Valencia CF must have.”
Playing at Mestalla
“Mestalla is very important. It gives us energy and we are focused on the first game up that we have ahead of us. The team are looking forward to returning to Mestalla, to creating and experience what we had against Real Sociedad. Mestalla gives us the energy we need.”
The match against FC Barcelona
“We have analysed, evaluated and overcome it. We have done the work we had to do, we know the reasons for the defeat and we have discussed them. Our focus is on Celta.”
The packed schedule
“Our objective is to work with the intensity and concentration that our situation in the competition demands, and to do so from the next game at Mestalla. I don't think beyond that.”
The squad
“I expected a squad like the one I have seen. We analysed it before coming here. Sadiq and Aarons were brought in and a squad where there were points for improvement and reinforcement had them covered, which is the objective. I came here with all the enthusiasm in the world, to work on things, to achieve the objective.”
Fans
“There is only one message that footballers and football can give: to tell people how much we want to turn things around on the pitch. We don’t have to talk to the fans, but rather we have to tell them and show them too. We are eager to do that.”
